Mt Hay Retreat – peaceful, private, and beautifully put together
We stayed in the Escarpment Suite and absolutely loved it. It’s quiet, private, and designed to help you switch off – floor-to-ceiling windows with expansive escarpment views, and a calm, open layout that makes you feel like you’ve got the whole hilltop to yourself.
The little hospitable touches were great – milk in the fridge, fruit on the table, a welcome note, and a bunch of brochures with useful suggestions for what to do in the area. Even though it rained most of the time, the suite was warm, cosy, and somewhere you’re more than happy to settle in and enjoy the quiet.
The bathroom was a standout – the spa bath with a view was perfect for a rainy afternoon soak, and the rain shower was just as good.
The grounds are also beautiful – everything is immaculately kept, from the gardens and veggie patches to the walking paths and the sculptures scattered around. The cloud swing is a bit of magic – floating above the valley with that view is a real highlight.
Anthony and Louise were lovely – friendly, helpful, and clearly care about making the place feel special. We’d absolutely come back.

I love the personal service, view, spacious bathroom and room here. Have taken my mum here twice within 6months. So relaxing and peaceful. Close to town, wineries, and markets. It is my go to retreat for a short getaway! Thank you Louise and Anthony for your amazing service.

Just spent a fabulous three nights at this stunning retreat.
The views are amazing and the wet room in the Escarpment Suite was ridiculous … wonderful rain head shower with excellent pressure and a massive two person bath to boot.
The pool and spa are also amazing.
Anthony and Louise were very friendly and welcoming and we will definitely be returning.

My partner and I spent 2 nights here in “the big blue” suite . Everything was amazing. Amazing service, location, view and price. It was so peaceful and perfect for a little getaway. We will definitely be going again.
We stayed 3 nights in the Escarpment Suite. Very modern open plan with an amazing view. The Retreat sits in a stunning rural landscape with distant ocean view and gorgeous gardens surrounding the suites. The indoor 33m swimming pool is brilliant for doing laps. Anthony was the perfect host.
We stayed in the Escarpment Suite that has a huge square bath. Loved it. This is the 2nd year in a row that we stayed at Mt Hay, in this suite, for our anniversary. It has fabulous views across the valley and to the ocean. There is also a huge indoor pool with jacuzzi, it was lovely. Anthony and Liz are very welcoming, it is a quiet place to unwind.
What an exceptional experience. No detail is overlooked. Amazing architect designed lodging with views to die for. A little piece of heaven on earth! A special occasion place or just an escape that we will keep coming back to..

Our room, the king suite is so beautiful and has a very nice breathtaking view. The room is huge even the toilet.
We’ve been provided with fresh fruits and milk too. The amenities inside the room are complete (some of them you have to ask, free if charge)
The pool is hugeeee! We enjoyed our swim! They also have a jacuzzi which is good for relaxing after the swim!
All in all our stay is superb! Highly recommended and we’ll definitely come back to this place!

Wow! What a lovely, relaxing place to rest and recharge. Mark and I had a wonderful stay from the wonderful views, to feeding the giant Koi, to sleeping in the bed from heaven and having a relaxing bath. We loved the location and the grounds. Anthony and Louise were helpful and most accommodating. We will be going back. Thank you for looking after us.
Absolutely stunning getaway. My partner and I booked one night here after our wedding and it is the most relaxing accommodation we have been too. Anthony met us on arrival and showed us to our beautiful room, the pool and spa were wonderful and the views of Berry and gardens from the room were amazing. We will definitely be back!!
What a wonderful retreat! The Luxury Suite not only provided a beautiful view but everything you would need or want for your stay and then some. They have taken time and care to look after the little things including super soft bath sheets, lovely bath products that smell very nice, large comfy bed and sheets and the list goes on!
The hosts are super nice, make you feel at home and are around if you happen to need anything.

Great place to stay for relaxing and soaking in the nature. Wonderful service and room is very big and comfortable. There is a beatiful garden walk around the site. The swing at the top of the mountain is a must to try. The view is magnificent. This place also has a beautiful swimming pool and a spa (forgot to take some photos). Mt Hay is a place worth to come again when possible 🙌
Lovely tranquil spot just 10mins up the mountain from Berry. Rooms are decently allocated size-wise and modern (green room was in any case). Well run and staff as annoying or out of the way as you need. Made the stay most enjoyable.
Secluded and peaceful, amazing views, close enough but far enough to nearby towns. Gorgeous gardens and surrounds, couldn't have been more relaxed if I tried. Room exactly as described, super friendly and helpful owners.

My wife and I stayed at Mount Hay for four nights and we couldn't have been happier. Our room had amazing views of Berry while the room itself had everything we needed. We went for walks, made use of the indoor pool, enjoyed breakfasts in town, there was plenty to do and help us relax and recharge. Our hosts Anthony and Louise couldn't have been more accommodating. They were very friendly and were full of recommendations for the local area. We left Mt Hay with plenty of great memories and I have already recommended this getaway to friends. Great place to getaway from city life and recharge.
We had an absolutely amazing time at Mt Hay Retreat!! The feeling of serenity being the only place up in the mountains, a giant swing overlooking the valley, amazing spa facilities and of course the view from indoors. Anthony and Louise were lovely hosts, making sure we had a comfortable stay. I also got to see a wild echidna so that brings it to a 5.5 stay... Highly recommend
Wonderful weekend getaway destination! Absolutely lovely service provided by Anthony and the accommodation was spacious, calming and accentuated nature. Everything we needed was provided in the room and we were always asked if we needed anything when we ran into Anthony. The views through the floor-to-ceiling windows were amazing and so relaxing. We were personally given a tour of Anthony's place and were shown to his many animals which was a delight and made the trip even more special. The room provides a map of all the features to see on the property which was such a great idea with the must sees being the pond and giant swing. The massages we ordered beforehand were also excellent and punctual which we had done in the living space! Beautiful resort, host and area.
